Three Rooker Bar is a spoil island just north of Honeymoon Island. North of there lies Anclote Key in which the southern end is still within Pinellas County. Bob & Denise Lane were there this past Friday counting shorebirds for the annual Pinellas winter shorebird survey. Impressive was their high count of 43 Snowy Plovers and 24 Piping Plovers.Snowy Plovers have been difficult to detect within the south end of Pinellas this winter, though further south, in Sarasota County, decent numbers have been reported.Bob's two photos from Friday include a Piping, at left, and a Snowy, below.
